The Force Commercial

The Volkswagen commercial introducing the character of Darth Vader was very cute at the beginning. It shows the representation of how male genders interact and have each others back. It is very traditional for a father to “help out” his son by making him feel manly in turning on the power with “the force” of a character whom is recognized by the community as strong and powerful. The mother on the other hand is being more realistic, and stands her ground by not supporting this behavior. it shows the behavior there is when men have a son as the behavior of having a daughter. The Darth Vader character has made it 30 years on society, and his image has always been of a master. If the young child grows up believing things will always go his way, then the parents will raise a spoiled man. The commercial also shows how the there is a stay at home mom while it clearly shows the hard working father is the one bringing the main income to the house. It is not being realistic, because now-a-days, most homes require two working parents to maintain a decent life style with commodities. Do all homes have a nice affordable car and a stay at home mom?

Justin Bieber's "Baby" video

Justin Bieber's video "Baby," shows the representation of both genders. Also equality and opportunity towards both sexes when it comes to scoring the same while bowling and being competitive on the dance floor. The boy seems to want to get the girl at all costs and she just wants to see what he has in order to get her heart, and she demonstrates how to tease a boy before he can have it all. To be realistic, teenagers of previous generations would meet at school or through acquaintances, and did not have dance battles at the bowling alley. However now they are willing to meet anywhere and parents are being more lenient towards this, if we go a couple of decades back, boys had to knock on doors and ask permission to court a young lady before even attempting to go on a first unsupervised date. Things have changed now, and the reality is that the media is slowly changing the way people raise their kids.
